Pietro Mascagni – Messa Di Gloria In Fa Maggiore

‘Composed without a piano, to be played by an orchestra whose young musicians just knew how to read notes’.  In this way almost apologising, Mascagni submitted the Messa di Gloria to his publisher Amintore Galli, artistic director of Casa Sonzogno.  The contract for the work ad been signed years before at Cerignola, a rural village in the Puglie, where Pietro Mascagni and his Lina had been living since 1888, when they left the vagabond life of operetaa companies.
